Position: Doctor Honoris Causa, St. Petersburg U., Russia), Russian and East European Studies, Professor.

Research interests: Pushkin, Russian poetry, and contemporary Russian literature.

He co-translated with Margaret Winchell works by Valentin Rasputin, published as Siberia, Siberia. He is an editor of the journal Russkij tekst, published in Lawrence and St. Petersburg, Russia.
